ABOUT ME

Mallie Easterlin, LMFT

One of our deepest desires as humans is to be and feel connected to another person.

We long to be in relationship with other people. But people and relationships can be one of our biggest fears and a deep source of pain. To be in relationship we must be vulnerable (terrifying!) and allow ourselves to be seen (no thanks!). So often life teaches us to hide or shrink or be quiet. We end up feeling like we don’t belong. Our bodies become dysregulated and we become disconnected from the people we care about, who we are, and who we were created to be.

Where there is vulnerability there is always bravery.

It takes courage to let ourselves be seen- whether in our daily lives with the people we love the most or in coming to counseling for the first (or third) time.

Counseling is a chance to have someone walk with you, offering an extra set of eyes, eyes that are similar to yours but just happen to have a little more training and practice (and boundaries and ethical guidelines, too).

As we walk together, you will experience what it is like being both present with another person and with yourself. We will walk with gentleness, letting your already wise body lead the way.

In being present- in the here and now- with the story in your head and the emotions in your body, we are giving the nervous system, our body's alarm system, a powerful gift.

I like to call it with-ness. As you let your story be heard and seen by me, your curious guide and kind cheerleader, I will hold it with you as you realize it is not as scary as you thought it was. Your nervous system will start to mend and the way you experience life’s thorns becomes different.

And as we keep walking, you will experience what it is like to be with yourself- the raw, unedited, unfiltered you. While that is unfamiliar and terrifying, you will begin to notice more wonder and beauty and belonging.

And the best part is that you get to take that home with you and share it with others, it doesn’t just exist in my comfy office.

LICENSED THERAPIST

Mallie Easterlin, LMFT

I will always consider it a great joy and honor to have a front row seat to the lives of my clients. I have long been a fan of the power of human connection and treasure the impact that mentors, wise friends and therapists have had on my life. Before pursuing a Master’s Degree, I worked in the nonprofit world where I learned how much I enjoy building personal relationships with those I am working with. While in grad school I interned at a university counseling center working with both undergraduate and graduate students. I have now been in private practice for over 6 years and feel so lucky to do something I love.

When I am not in the therapist chair you can find me trying a new Nashville restaurant, traveling with family and friends, or walking with my dog, Bo.
