Frequently Asked Questions

  • My standard fee is $140 per session. I offer a limited number of sliding scale slots. If needed, please inquire about my reduced rates. I accept all major credit cards, cash and checks. Payment is due at the time of the appointment.

  • I do not bill insurance, but I am happy to provide receipts for each session that may be accepted by your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement to you.

  • My office is located near the Hillsboro Village neighborhood on 21st Ave. S. with easy access to and from Interstate 440. When you arrive, please enter the building and take the stairs/elevator to the 3rd floor and I am in suite 305.

  • I like to think of counseling like a house renovation. Sometimes, just one room needs fixing up, but sometimes there’s a structural problem with the roof or foundation. Maybe you finish one part of the house and love it, and then there’s another part of the house that needs attention. And sometimes a pipe bursts and you just have to start there before doing anything else. What is your house like? Whether you feel like there is something major or minor happening in your life, therapy can be such a helpful experience. Besides, we want to like where we live.

  • What a great question! It is so important to find a therapist who you will be a good fit with. Hopefully you have gotten a little bit of an idea of what it would be like to work with me, but I also offer free 15-minute consultations. We can hop on the phone or you can schedule a time to pop by my office to see if we are a good fit together, as well as ask any questions you may have.

A good general rule of thumb is that you should feel like you are a good fit with your therapist within 3 sessions and start to see a glimpse of therapy’s impact after 6 sessions.

  • This question can be hard to answer and the answer is most likely different for everyone. As your schedule and budget allow, I think one of the best gifts we can give ourselves is being consistent (i.e. coming once a week or every other week).

Sometimes, I think it is helpful to not put a time limit on how long you might need to be in therapy: giving yourself the freedom to take up the space you need.
